In the relentless pursuit of carbon fiber bicycle rim innovation, NEXTIE continues to break boundaries. For top-level mountain bike rims, the ultimate goals remain: lighter weight, greater strength, enhanced durability, and uncompromised riding comfort. The newly launched Supreme Edition Alpha 36S carbon mountain bike rim embodies our revolutionary solution. Specifically engineered for all forms of Cross Country riding, this rim features a 30mm internal width while maintaining a mere 240g weight, incorporating multiple core technological innovations.

1. Molded Spoke Holes and Valve Stem Hole, Resulting in Rims that are Stronger and Lighter

Diverging from traditional crude drilling methods, we implement precision-molded spoke holes and valve holes through integrated mold forming technology. This approach eliminates structural damage to carbon fibers, significantly enhancing rim strength and durability. Simultaneously, we've optimized spoke hole angles at 6° axial and 5° radial orientations. These precision-engineered angles effectively minimize spoke stress and maximize power transfer efficiency.

2. Material Breakthrough: Toray T1100 + T1000 Aerospace Grade Carbon Fiber

The Alpha 36S pioneers the use of Toray T1100 aerospace-grade carbon fiber as its main structural material, strategically reinforced with Toray T1000 for localized optimization. This represents an ultimate upgrade from the Omega 36U material system. Despite matching the Omega 36U’s strength, the Alpha 36S achieves unprecedented weight savings: 24-hole version at 242g, 28-hole version at 245g, crowning it as one of the lightest MTB rims globally.

3. 3rd-Generation Layer-up Structure

As illustrated, all Supreme Edition MTB carbon rims — including the Alpha 36S rim — employ our third-generation carbon fiber layer-up structure. The outermost carbon layer on the rim bed closely integrates with the main body structure, wrapping around the outside of the rim to relocate seam joints away from the rim lip which is most susceptible by impact. This structure significantly improves the impact resistance of the rim during the technology impact test, so that it is not easily damaged by high impact in reality riding.

4. Highly Strict Technical Test Methods — 100J for 24Holes & 105J for 28Holes

For all of the Supreme Edition MTB rims, we implement Specialized Laboratory testing standards exceeding UCI requirements: V-shaped impact hammer testing at 25psi tire pressure. This methodology better simulates actual mountain riding conditions, providing more realistic strength evaluations. While 84J impact resistance is considered exceptional under these conditions, our Supreme Cross Country carbon rims (including Omega 36U and Alpha 36S) achieve extraordinary 100-105J results. Notably, Omega 36U has maintained zero customer complaints since its July 2024 release, with Alpha 36S demonstrating equivalent testing performance. IMPACT TEST VIDEO: 28Holes and 24Holes.

5. 23mm Low-Profile Optimization for Riding Comfort and Tubeless-Ready

In terms of the rim height design, 23mm not only satisfies the needs of riding comfort, but also defines the minimum height of the Tubeless-Ready rim design, which is based on our years of experience. The primary design feature of the Alpha 36S is the use of molded spoke hole technology to improve the overall strength of the carbon fiber material on the spoke hole side. In the other aspect, the Tubeless-Ready design does not damage the carbon fiber material on the rim bed, thereby maintaining the integrity of the carbon fiber material on the rim bed side. Therefore, the Tubeless-Ready design is the option we highly recommend for the Alpha 36S carbon rim. The Tubeless-Ready rim manufacturing process based on the Molded Spoke Hole Technology is different from the rim manufactured by traditional spoke hole drilling process. It is a patented production technology, which we will introduce in detail later.

Beyond these core innovations above, Alpha 36S carbon rim incorporates numerous advanced manufacturing techniques including precision carbon fiber cutting, optimized mold materials, refined production processes and wheelset temperature test under 80 ℃ for 4 hours - collectively establishing Alpha 36S carbon rim as the ultimate MTB Cross Country competition-grade product.

True innovation is not a parameter competition, but a revolution in user experience. Every technical refinement in Alpha 36S carbon rim embodies we NEXTIE's decade of carbon fiber R&D expertise. We firmly believe exceptional products emerge from accumulated experience, engineering wisdom and continuous rider feedback.
